Software and data products from records that aren't ready to use.
Public records, private files, obscure databases, systems that don't talk to each other. The information is there. Most of it is stuck in someone else's format, someone else's environment, or nobody's maintenance schedule.
We build the products that make it usable. They run hosted, or in your environment. Finance, government, and real estate first.
What we build
Data products
Feeds and APIs from public records, private files, obscure databases, and data you already hold. We acquire it, clean it, and keep it current. You get a schema, a change log, and a straight answer on coverage and refresh.
Software products
Search, monitoring, reporting, and analysis on that data. For people who need an answer, not a dump. Hosted by us, or installed where you already work.
Custom builds
If an existing product doesn't fit, we build to your requirements. Same data, your workflow, your environment.
Who it's for
Finance
Underwriting, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring need facts about assets, entities, and liens. We deliver those as a maintained feed, with a source and date on each record.
Government
Agencies already have more data than they can use, in systems that don't talk to each other. We add a layer that can search, report, and share across departments, without replacing the systems of record.
Real estate
Parcels, ownership, assessments, permits, and filings, assembled per property instead of per database. For teams whose deal timeline depends on confirming what's true about a property.
And beyond
This work isn't limited to those three. If the data exists and it isn't usable yet, tell us.
How we work
Coverage before features
Incomplete coverage is worse than none, because people trust the tool. We say what we cover, and what we don't, before you buy.
Maintained, not scraped once
The first build is the easy part. Keeping it right next quarter is the job.
Provenance on every record
Each value traces to a source document and a retrieval date.
Your environment or ours
The software runs on our side, or inside your environment.
The name
A colliery is a coal mine and the plant around it: shafts, breakers, the works at the surface. Northeastern Pennsylvania ran on them for a century.
We took the name because the job is similar. The material is already in the ground. Someone has to know where to dig, and build the machinery that brings it up.
About
Colliery Research, LLC is a Pennsylvania company based in Scranton. We build software and data products, including software that runs in customer environments, for finance, government, and real estate.
